After several uneventful nights on 160m we finally saw some DX activity on top band. Below is a sorted listing of the distances achieved last night on 160 Meter WSPR.

A big thank you to all who participated on WSPR last night and esp. the 160m ops.

Two radios transmitting simultaneously, one exciting a 'reference' antenna and another a test antenna using two different freqs to differentiate the results at the spotting stations.

Ref Ant - A dipole center at about 30', dipole is horizontal
Test Ant - An EH Antenna, center line about 25 feet, EH antenna oriented vertically.

Quick webpage with more info: http://www.qsl.net/w/wb5wpa//EHantenna/EH_Mark_2_Vert/

Notes:
(1) The EH Antenna is fed via a coupling loop (Link coupled) near the EH "Tuning coil" and is not directly connected as normally depicted on most websites.
(2) The low frequency radio was on the EH antenna, the higher freq radio was on the dipole antenna
.
Update 6-11-2013: More plots of SNR of the Dipole vs the EH Antenna at various stations:
(1) Plot of 40m WSPR snr at K9AN ........ (2) Plot of 40m WSPR snr at W4DJW
(3) Plot of 40m WSPR snr at WB2EEE .. (4) Plot of 40m WSPR snr at F1VMV
(5) Plot of 40m WSPR snr at K7TSW ..... (6) Plot of 40m WSPR snr at VE6PDQ

This is the really wild one; notice how the EH still holds the path whereas the dipole has died away:
(7) Plot of 40m WSPR snr at AK4UR 1691 km at 64 deg.
