Beacon back to Gernot, OE1IFM

The homebrew beacon of Gernot, OE1IFM, has been running here for abt 2 months with no problems.
I started with 1 Watt and later on with 0.5 Watt.
The used antennas were: wire 7 meter (non-resonant), coax-trap dipole 80/40 meter and a coax-trap dipole 30/17/12 meter.
The most spots gave the 80/40 dipole (500-1000/day) of course mostly on 80 and 40 meter.
Gernot tolled me he has new plans with the beacon.
And if that will happen, he may tell it himselve.
So far I thank Gernot for using the beacon and I hope that I could provide good input for version 2.

From 40/80 dipole to 30/17/12 dipole

Already a long time the beacon of Gernot, OE1IFM is running here with 0.5 Watt.
The used bands are 80 , 40 , 30 , 20 , 17 , 15 , 12 and 10 meter.
The last weeks it was on a trap-dipole for 40 and 80 meter.
Sinds yesterday (11-1-2010) I switch to trap-dipole for 30 , 17 and 12 meter.
So now I get less reports on 40 and 80 and more on 30 17 and 12 meter.

I am now preparing a new home.
There will be a time that on the old QTH the antennas have to go down.
Till that time I'll keep running the beacon.
And it will be at least 4 months, I think, before I can place a (stelth) antenna on my new rental home.
The owner do not know that I am a HAM .....

Happy New year and Wisper-ing

Strange decodes

Hi all,

I think evry one have had one.
I did decode: 28 nov 2009 at 0904 -21dB 0.9DT 144.489470 -1Drift JT1/HL4LFX 53.
A unknown Ham from South Korea in Mongolia on 2 meter !!!
This is indeed a very strange one...Hi Hi Hi

Keep on wishpering with a smile

MEPT beacon testing

Yesterday I started to use the MEPT-beacon, the one Gernot, OE1IFM has build.
Purpose is to provide Gernot input to his wonderful beacon project.
We have long conversations to make it even better.
So far it is TX-ing on 80,40,30,20,17,15,12 and 10 meters with 1 Watt in a horizontal wire of 7 meters.
The antenna is far from ideal and has a bad VSWR.
The results of the first 24 hours: more than 550 spots, no spots on 12m, mostly Europeën stations, some stations from America and later even from Australia.

WSPR spots of TY1MS (Benin)

As far as I did understood (TY1MS has no internet acces), the WSPR-beacon make some interference.
Thats why the WSPR-beacon is not always on, and the conditions are poor.
The first 18 spots was with 1 Watt, the rest with 5 Watt.
Lets hope that they have better conditions and can help many stations with a new country and more WSPR spots.

From 9-10-2009 / 14:50 ut till 23-10-2009 / 4:40 ut there were 414 WSPR-spots.

TY1MS

Hello wishpers,

In close cooporation between the DAGOE Foundation, Mercy Ships and 4 Dutch radio amateurs a new DX-pedition is on its way. They will visit Benin from October 7th untill October 30st. The team expect to be on air from October 10th-27th from the village Grand Popo (JJ06VG) and will also participate in the CQWW SSB 2009. The team set the following goals and will be able to reach these goals with help of the radio amateur community worldwide:

1) Activate the DXCC-entity Benin on the HF bands
2) Proving onsite help to the Mercy Ships Charity Project
3) Raising funds for the Mercy Ships Charity Project

They will also be activ with WSPR, using a MEPT-TX (abt 5W on 80-6 m) designed by OE1IFM. The antenna will be a ZS6BKW but other antennas are avalible.
In case of interference on the used bands, that WSPR-band will be switched off.

DX-pedition info: http://www.benin2009.com/home.php
MEPT-TX info: http://www.oe1ifm.at/
Mercy Ships info: http://www.mercyships.org/

If internet is not possible for the DX-pedition, I will take care of the WSPR-info of TY1MS.

Good luck, happy Wishpering and '73

Found a bug

When I adjust the time with the "Dsec"-button it change somtines the report-time from even to uneven.
In that case you find it in the database.

' 73 and good wispering
