This weekend, I am testing out an end fed 1/2 dipole for portable operation on 20 meters. Nothing fancy. Matching network is a 8:1 impendanc transformation with a resonant tank curcuit. At the time of this posting, I have the antenna strung across the radio room on the second floor on the house. I think it a good worse case test scenario. Running 1W from a Yaesu 857D.

Tonight I -am on 30 meters for some low power operation with WSPR - 125 mW.

Station: Full-wave Delta Loop cut for 30 meters. Feed point is 1/4 wave down from the apex. Feed line is approx 25 feet of window line. The current choke consists of 3 each, toroidal cores #61 mix with six turns of RG-8X. The rig is a Flex-Radio 5000A. I am using the 5000A internal antenna matching system to obtain a match.

I am running 125 mW of transmitter output power. Power levels have been verified by a commercial spectrum analyzer.

Longest distance obtain so far:

I built a 4 element wire Yagi for 10 meters. The Yagi was design from scratch using MMANA-GAL. It is my first attempt at design such an antenna and I was curious if it would ever come close to model in the application.

The Yagi boom length is 32 feet and I went for a balance between gain vs. front to back ratio. The Yagi is feed with window line and match with a homemade balance matching unit.

Moved over to 10 meters this afternoon. Feeding the 40 delta loop. Hopefully, I will not get arrested.

Moving down the power to around 65mW. Well, truth be told - < 70mW, but more than 50mW.

I've dropped the power from 250 to 125 mW. Still operating off the 30 meter delta loop.

Back on WSPR this morning with WPSR-X. Running 250 mW in to the 30 meter delta loop. I like the interface on WPSR-X. Being a JT65A/JT9 operator, WSPR-X provides a very familiar interface.

WSPR-15 has spark my interest. Anyone using WSPR-15 on 160 meters? Or are there a few daring souls out there who will give it a go in HF?

I have the Flex set up to beacon WSPR on 17 meters. Output power is 1 watt. The antenna for transmit is the 30 meter delta loop. For RX, both the 30 and 40 meter delta loops are used in diversity to the two receivers on the Flex.

Listening only on 30 meters. The antenna is a delta loop whose base is 10 feet off the ground. The loop is fed 1/4 down on one side with window line. The RXer is the Flex 5000A and I am using the second receiver as the source for WSPR.

I have the station now on 80 meters running 1 watt. I will leave it on for most of the night.

I started on 10 meters today @ 1318Z running 1 watt. I am working at the house today, so I will leave it up and running for the rest of the day. I am still seeing what I suspect is Doppler shifts from air traffic at the DFW Airport.

AE2EA has a very strong signal in to Euless, Texas:

1512 7 -0.2 28.126162 0 AE2EA FN12 37

I live 5 miles from the DFW Airport. I noted N6GN's observations about the effects of Doppler on 10 meters.

With running just 1 watts on the xmitter output:

ZL1EE only heard me. I could not hear him and that is due to local QRN.
