Sorry, transmitting on 20M of today (15:26 utc) isn't 1 watts but 5 watts. I forgot to change in the software.

Using a mobile whip on my FT-817

Thanks to Nobuyuki Oba, JA7UDE, a Japanese translation of the WSPR 2.0 User's Guide is now available. A link has been placed on the WSJT/WSPR web site:

Trying to get it to work with Mint Linux, the program runs, makes a terrible frequency tone once in a while, i have no cable so try it with vox first :-)

Also trying it on a magnetic loop, because no space for a longer antenna...

FT-817 5 Watt for now!

I am curious!

Mum and bubs doing well; Home after five days.
Baby is so quiet and placid - Sleeps all the time.
Third for me - my other two are teenagers now. First for my partner Margaret. She's working towards a ham licence for herself.

My article on WSPR and SDR is the cover story of this quarter's QRPARCI.

Intrigued by G experimenters on 500 kHz I rebuilt my multiturn loop for LW/MW. The first evening of reception I could pick PA0A at -30dB in the following conditions:

  • indoor passive multiturn square loop approx. tuned to 500 kHz (25 turns, one full coupling loop, 1m each side)
  • FT-817
  • Asus eeePC (not relevant) with WSPR 2.0

I have S7-S8 constant noise. I couldn't receive any other ping the folliwing two nights. I will try to put the loop outside in the next days.

What i found out today when i'm using my filters.

Normaly i will use 2.4khz , Roofng filer on Auto so wide ssb. This evening on 40mtr i turned down the filter to 600khz. The signal did inprove with more db's. Also i turned the Roofing filter on with the setting 3k. Is this normal what i see in the results? Ok we have fading but that much.. Look at RA9CUA 8db difference

Example

I still can´t believe that Iam the only one who received his signal.

This is an embarrassment of riches, caused by my own poor memory.

In addition to the one mentioned in my announcement a few minutes ago,
a German translation of the WSPR 2.0 User's Guide has also been prepared by Klaus Korn, DJ6LB.

I apologize to both Klaus and Ray, DL3LST, for encouraging them both to work on this task without either one knowing that the other has been given the go-ahead. (As it happens, Karl Schmidt, DK5EC, also volunteered -- and I did remember to tell Karl that a translation was already underway.)

Thanks to Rainer Streubel, DL3LST, a German translation of the WSPR 2.0 User's Guide is now available. A link has been placed on the WSJT/WSPR web site at

The PIC software for the Audio WSPR Source was updated to include on-chip WSPR message generation. On-the-fly grid square location updating for portable operation is also included if GPS timing is used.

The system now has the following capabilities:

Hello,

I just released wsprspots2kml convert for you guys at wspr net community. With this tool you can convert wsprspots.csv to kml format. The kml format can be loaded with Google Earth instead of Google Maps.

Please download at http://de8msh.blogspot.com/

Note:

*** One problem is that there are doubled (or more) entries in kml file. I'll fix it as soon as possilbe.
*** convert_win_tx.exe for send amateurs only (SWL version coming in a few days ;)
*** LX version coming soon.

Ik heb onlangs wspr op de pc gezet
en ik werk met een YAESU FT-817
ik heb al eens een beetje kunnen ontvanger;
maar ik krijg het programma niet inzending via de cat aansluiting
via vox lukt het wel maar dan kan ik maar 1 maal inzending gaan;
en dan blijft mijn zender in ontvangst slaan.

Wie weet er een oplossing?

Jan 15th, my first day operating WSPR. I am in the northern woods and lake country of Minnesota, about 160miles north of Minneapolis. At this time I am running at .1watt (100mw) on 20m or 40m depending upon the time of day. Very curious to see paths at this power level. The rig is a Elecraft K3/10 and the antennas are an inverted Vee on 20m, the center at about 40ft and on 40m a dipole IN THE TREES about 15ft off the ground.

Schedules would be welcome on 40m / 20m as well as VHF ... it would be interesting to check frequency stability on the higher frequencies.

After about a month of tries, finally I get something in 600m.
See attachment: PA0A and SM6BHZ, for now :-)

tnx!
