Comparing antennas on 160 & 80m using WSPR

Hi All,

As some of you may be aware I’ve been WSPRing from three sites concurrently in order to try and determine how efficiently a loft mounted doublet is working.

Although my analysis is quite crude, it still provides an interesting insight into how much attenuation I’m experiencing as a result of interaction with the surrounding building structure etc.

I’m not sure if any other work has been performed to try and quantify losses such as these but it would seem that I’m loosing about 6dB on 160m and 5dB on 80m. The HF bands are much more difficult to compare as nulls in the polar diagrams vary between antennas and propagation paths also change much more rapidly between the three sites I’m using for the tests.

Some of my results can be found at the top of this page.
