500kHz WSPR possibilities emerging in Canada; info on WSPR TX arrangements sought

Canada has so far not established an amateur radio band around 500 kHz, but, in close cooperation with Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) has begun to issue a limited number of Development Service privileges for advanced class radio operators. Calls will be in the VX9 series regardless of location.

The bandwidth limit of 1 kHz would permit WSPR (!) along with other narrow-band modes, and several of us on RAC's LF/MF/HF Band Planning Committee are now working with RAC to obtain privileges. We plan to explore various narrow-band possibilities but are expecting WSPR to be our central beacon mode and some other 500 kHz frequency to be our working frequency. We hope to have several TX sites and could collect a lot of data and also have the capability to receive requests to QSY to the working frequency, where further communications might be in Olivia, some form of slow CW, etc., depending on mutual signal strengths.

I'm hopeful some participants in this Forum can help steer us to suitable transverter or transmitter designs. Ideally, they will mate with HF ham radio transceiver transverter capabilities.

Many thanks for any leads on this matter.
