CAT problems WSPR 2 -- Flex 5000

Greetings from a newbie. I just installed WSPR 2 yesterday. It works -- mostly.

I am running a Flex 5000 using VAC to pipe the audio bitstream between PowerSDR (the radio) and WSPR. I am using VSPmgr to implement the virtual serial ports to pipe the commands between PowerSDR and WSPR, including rig control and PTT via CAT command. I can make PowerSDR appear as either a Kenwood TS-2000 or a Flex SDR-1000. This works just fine when running with fldigi or HRD.

The problem I have run into with WSPR 2 is that, while CAT PTT works, CAT rig control of frequency does not. Regardless, I keep getting errors in the console window regardless of what WSPR is trying to do, e.g.:

-------
Error attempting to set rig frequency.
rigctl -m 2301 -r COM6 -s 57600 -C data_bits=8 -C stop_bits=1 -C serial_handshake=None F 10138700
C
Config parameter error: Invalid parameter
Error executing rigctl command to set Tx mode:
rigctl -m 2301 -r COM6 -s 57600 -C data_bits=8 -C stop_bits=1 -C serial_handshake=None T 1
Config parameter error: Invalid parameter
-------

The above messages are repeated over and over. Regardless, the CAT command to key and unkey the transmitter works but the command to change frequency does not.

I am guessing that this is probably an interaction with VSPmgr (virtual serial port manager). This should be transparent. There is no actual serial port and data input at one port of the pair is output at the other. VSPmgr was written by K5FR and can be found here: http://k5fr.com/ddutilwiki/index.php?title=VSP_Manager.

I do have two physical serial ports on the machine and I could connect them using a null modem but that seems like such a hack when both programs are running inside the same machine.

Any suggestions?

(We can talk about level setting another time.)
