20m After Midnight....

Nada, zip, "shum davar", "klum"...

I knew that none of the bands are doing so great right now, or so, everyone is saying... of course, it is all relative... I'm sure conditions are quite good compared to the times when you only had a couple thousand hams globally and you actually had to work quite a bit to make any contacts... hence the term, "working on 20m," etc...

But I thought 20m would open at some point during the late night, even a little bit... but from my QTH here in Karmiel, IL, the band was completely and utterly closed between 23:36z until 03:58z (02:36 til 06:58), 4 hours and 22 minutes... Until 1/2 hour after local sunrise...

I thought I had broke something, the site had broke something, or someones somewhere had broke something... but then exactly 1/2 hour after sunrise here [06:28 IST], I received a 'hearing' from a station at 06:58 IST.

I also 'heard' no stations at all from 20:38z (23:38 IST) until 04:22z (07:22 IST), almost 1 hour after sunrise... 8 hours, as the world was sleeping...

I was thinking of rotating WSPR as a night on 40m, then a night on 30m, then a night on 20m, but maybe I should just take 20m out of the rotation? Or maybe I will leave it in the rotation, see what happens as we approach the winter months? Yeah, think I'll try that...

Also, I'm gonna keep and eye on 4Z5LF, I noticed he was working WSPR last night on 40m up until 02:08z 05:08IST... maybe he is already running a temp WSPR Beacon on 40m while he sleeps... then I might just do 30m and 20m on rotation...
