WSJT-X 2.0 Release Release Candidate 5

Now that Release Candidate 5 of WSJT-X 2.0 is out and the full release version due to be out in 10 or so days, has anyone been testing it for WSPR? From reading the release notes, they say they’ve improved the WSPR decoder for significantly better sensitivity by about 1 dB.

I’ve hesitated loading it on my dedicated WSPR computer as appears to be have done by upgrade from a 72 bit payload to a 77 bit payload for handling more diverse message sequences. This makes the decoder incompatible for previous versions of WSJT-X. It states that this is strictly for the FT8, JT4, JT9, JT65, MSK144, and QRA64 modes, and right now they are recommending folks Beta testing it for those modes to use a different set of base frequencies until the January 1st.

I was was wondering if anyone had tried it with just WSPR and was able to decode older releases?

I’ve always been a cautious early adapter of new software releases, and usually start using it with the .1 release. But to continue the spotting I also do on FT8, with the inability for backwards incompatibility, I may jump on that bandwagon sooner than normal for me.
