Incorrect band reporting - how to avoid.

There appears to have been an increase of late in stations operating on one band and reporting spots on another and consequently making a mess of the Database, Current Activity page and Propagation Map.

The thing to remember is that WSPR does not contain CAT software so changing WSPR to another band will not automatically change the rig frequency. Switching the rig to another band will not automatically change the WSPR settings either.

So, as an example if you have been operating on 40m and wish to change to 20m do this…

(1) Switch WSPR to “IDLE” and leave it for at least 2 minutes. This will ensure that you have actually stopped operating on 40m
(2) At the end of the 2 minutes change the “BAND” in WSPR to 20m
(3) Switch the rig to 20m
(4) Re-set WSPR to TX % or RX as appropriate

If you do make a mistake please report it in the forum under the “WSPRnet.org Site” heading and it will be corrected manually in due course.
