UNBALANCE IN THE LOOP
---------------------

I currently use a 28Mhz quad loop which is taped to the spare bedroom wall indoors.

I had forgotten just how unbalanced the system can be whilst using an experimental tuner I had made for another purpose. Several years ago I made a balun for it, and it made a huge difference, both on tx and rx.

Having recently resurrected it's use for tx purposes my memory is coming back.

WSPR has only highlighted what I should have remembered.

I'll dig out my old tuner/balun config during the week, which will enable
me to use it as a mag loop for the LF bands too. Despite only being wire,it used to
work VERY well, and didn't melt with high power either ;-)

28MHZ FLOPPED TODAY
-------------------

I left my WSPR beacon on for most of the day. All I got was one measley cloud of SpE, but very good signal strengths for a short time.

Having seen a fair few G stations monitoring, some just outside of ground wave
range, I was hoping to see some possible MS or aircraft scatter reception occur.

But nothing happened. However I will persevere,as these sort of tests are far
more interesting than just plonking the rig on 30/20m where everyone else is,
knowing that I'm guaranteed a stack of reports.

POSSIBLE REST
-------------

I seem to have give WSPR and radio in general a good bash the last few days.
I might have a few days rest. Lets see how long I can keep away.
