The Weak Signal Propagation Reporter Network is a group of amateur radio operators using K1JT's MEPT_JT digital mode to probe radio frequency propagation conditions using very low power (QRP/QRPp) transmissions. The software is open source, and the data collected are available to the public through this site.

As of the last week of February, I have been using the Monitor Systems 630m Band Transverter allied with the Icom 756 Pro III on receive. The signal detection seems as good as that of the Icom alone but it will take a few more monitoring nights to be sure.


I am really enjoying WSPR mode it is about the only mode on HF I have had any success with at all to speak of. Success being defined as A) someone actually can hear my signal and B) I am also able to hear others (though not always both ways). I am using a 20% setting for transmitting. So far WSPR is about it for ham radio and me it seems at the moment. I have always been most active on digital modes, and also SSTV in the past. Those were with more power and outside antennas though.

I'm please to announce that tonight I heard a new NA station; AE4VJ (Brad). With this last one I reach with several months in advance my final score of the previous season on 160m wspr: 98 UNIQUE NA station heard.
But I'm not alone improving results and the season is not over. I publish the current season TOP score (Jul2017-fev2018). I note especially the position of Bob (K4RCG) who improves season after season his antenna system with obstinacy and efficiency.

Just booted up the WSPR mode and hit Germany! 3.8w out Homebrew Windom 40m

Starting with the 0314 beacon, W0BM's antenna is at 135 Degrees. The azimuth in the last week or two has been 45 Degrees. Rig is 40 meter QCX, in beacon mode, running 1.5 Watt or so. Antenna is a Steppir 40 meter trombone element at 17 meters. (part of a 3 el Steppir). QCX is GPS Disciplined. This has been fascinating, and let the experiments begin! 73,

if I receive my own signal I hear much hum on it. But I use a very good filtered power supply.

Sorry, all spots from PA7MDJ on 2018/02/17 between 1516 and 1518 UTC have the wrong band reported. The band reported is 630m, it should have been 30m.

One of the interesting things you can calulate from WSPR spots recorded on the WSPRnet web sites is the number of kilometers that each milli watt of power from your transmitter covers.
Using my WSPRLite Classic Transmitter running 200 milli watts into an OCF dipole I made the following contacts.

12-Feb-2018 at 12:28 UTC to K9AN at EN50wc total kilometers 17660.

A calculation to K9AN shows that for each 1 milliwatt of signal the Transmitter covers a distance 88.30 kilometers.

My personal WSPR setup. Raspberry Pi 1 with filters for 80m, 40m, 30m, 20m and 17m. Output is for now 10 mW, but I build one simple amplifier about 200mW (almost finnished).
Till now all working 24 hours on day in a FD4 antenna which is for now very very low over ground.
